Found: The Perfect Lounge Pant

I'm a girly-girl through and through - I love my dresses, pumps and croco-print clutches as much as (or likely more than) most women and yet, when the day is done and I want to chill out with a glass of wine and a ridiculous reality TV show, a pencil skirt just doesn't cut it.  I need a pair of comfy pants but I also don't want to look sloppy, lest some Bachelor (okay, fine, my husband) should appear in my kitchen.

These incredible lounge pants from Aerie could not possibly be more soft and comfy, yet they haven't forgotten the fit and the flatter so essential in a good pant.  They have them in a range of styles and colours to suit every woman, whether you're a RHOBH gawker, a Dancing with the Stars addict or an America's Got Talent groupie.  Find your perfect pair now ($24.99 - $39.99) at Aerie.  Ahhh...

Hello, Hot Pants

Originally posted in The CLOSET

It's sad but true:  pants nearly always get the shaft.  Shirts get fun prints, vibrant colours, buttons and bows, and nearly all of our accessorizing happens above the waistline.  But what about below the belt?  Why can't pants get in on the action?

Most of us avoid colourful bottoms like the plague because we're taught that bright colours = attention.  Women have hips, bumps and lovely lady lumps and we're constantly being told to do whatever we can to hide them.  "Wear black, it's slimming," they say.  "Grey pants go with everything," shout the others.  Maybe it's the fashion rebel in me but I'm tired of being told that I have to stick to black, grey and brown bottoms.  "Yawn, yawn, yawn," is really all I can say.  Why not go the other way?

This summer, bright bottoms were everywhere and I'm happy to see that the trend's still going strong.   But how do you rock the look without making a major fashion gaffe?  Here's a fool-proof solution:  let your pants do the talking and keep it quiet up top by sticking with classic neutral tops.  "It's about time!" (You didn't know your legs could talk, did you?  Cheeky.)

P.S - Those fierce leopard fetish heels are not for the faint of heart.  If you're looking for something a little more tame, there are leopard print heels in every style and price range this season.  Happy hunting!

Topshop Gears up for Fall

Topshop's signature eclectic, quirky style is ready to make its mark in Canada and I just got my hands on the their fall lookbook.  The collection encompasses 4 key looks:  Psychobilly - a cool blend of 60s mod mixed with rockabilly style, Thrift - ultra-girlie vintagey pieces, Glamrock - full-on 70s grunge-free glam and Bavaria – luxurious, cozy pieces with a folksy feel.  I must be having a Dorothy moment because those glittery silver boots must, MUST be mine!

Toronto's flagship store opens October 5th at Yorkdale Mall and for those who simply can't wait, capsule stores will let you pre-shop Topshop (The Bay Queen Street's shop is open now, Vancouver's capsule store at The Bay - 647 Granville St, 2nd floor - opens Sept 15th and Calgary's capsule store at The Bay - 200 8th Ave SW, 3rd floor- opens Sept 17th)

Found: A Stunning Scarf

When it comes right down to it, what really separates the ordinary from the extraordinary ?  In fashion, it's all about the details:  the great silver cuff, the punchy green bag, the slightly oversized collar on a jacket or the pop of colour in a cobalt pump.  French women have always known that all you really need are a handful of good, versatile wardrobe basics made extraordinary with accessories.

A scarf takes a bit of courage but you really don't have to overthink it.  Imagine a good white shirt, a tan trench coat, your favourite pair of jeans and then, the pièce de résistance - a vibrant silk scarf tied loosely around your neck, and you suddenly transform from average to amaazing.

These new silk scarves from Jacob are a total must-have.  The colours are bang on, the prints absolutely Hermès-esque and they're only $15.  That's a fashion risk I'm totally willing to take.

Get them before they're gone at Jacob stores nationwide.   Happy Friday!

OBJECT by George Antonopoulos Hits Danier Today

September 8th is a big, (make that major) day for fashion;  it's the opening day of TIFF, NYC's Fashion's Night Out and the first chance for Canadians to scoop up super-stylist George Antonopoulos' new collection for Danier.  OBJECT takes leather to a whole new level;  forget stiff, bulky and shapeless - in George's hands, the pieces become sleek, chic and utterly sophisticated.  “My philosophy behind OBJECT was creating modern classics in leather that are effortlessly integrated into anyone’s wardrobe. Attainable and affordable, the designs are investment pieces translated in leather to create a new language of dressing”, says Antonopoulos.

In my perfect world, I would snap up the cotton jersey and leather shirt (divine!), the wear-anywhere dresses (yes, please!), the graphic black bangles and the croco-print iPad case.

Want to get a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the making of OBJECT?  Check out the Coveteur's story on the making of the collection.  I'll admit, I'm not a huge fan of leather but when it's done right?  I want.  I want.  I want.

OBJECT for Danier is available starting today at these select stores (click below to drool over the rest of the collection)  Pieces range from $249 - $999.
