Trouble: Gap's Fall 2013 Collection

Textural Raw-Edge Tee, $31.95, Gap

I can justify anything and have found plenty of ways to do so at Gap this fall. I could wear the above tee with everything and I definitely hope to bust it out with a black flared mini and ankle boots at Toronto Fashion Week. The clutch below isn't just a clutch, but a very practical cross-body which totally makes sense for my day-to-day. The varsity jacket? Okay, fine, it's basically the tee with long sleeves, isn't it? Hmm... And yet, it's the perfect fall layer since while I feel a little too old to wear a proper varsity jacket, this collegiate nod seems just right. Polka-dot jeans on their own? Totally don't need. Polka-dot pre-distressed jeans? Need. The amazing coated merlot skinnies look like leather but are so much friendlier on the wallet. And at $89.95, I don't really even have to justify the back zip moto boots, do I? While these ramblings are pretty convincing, the current sale online at Gap is enough to make it all officially okay: 35% off any purchase of $140 or more. Shoot, don't you just love/hate it when they do that?

Colorblock Leather Crossbody Bag, $59.95, Gap

Textural Bomber Jacket, $59.95, Gap

1969 Destructed Polka-Dot Always Skinny Jeans, $79.95, Gap (in stores)

1969 Coated Biker Legging Jeans, $89.95, Gap (available Sept 30th)

 Leather Zipped Booties, $89.95, Gap

Win 1 of 3 $500 Shopping Sprees with Oshawa Centre 'Style Approved' Campaign

A tee to L.O.V.E. from Smart Set

As a fashion blogger, I hardly ever get to shop. Sure, I stare at clothes all day and write about the latest trends but as for actual physical, down-and-dirty shopping, it's a very rare treat. You might think my world is all changerooms and chargecards, but the reality of my little blogosphere is me, tied to a chair, getting intimate with Carpal Tunnel and trying to recall what my ballet teacher taught me about posture (Shoulders back! Chin up! Oui, oui!)

So when Oshawa Centre asked me to be one of their 'Style Approved' Experts (along with 4 other amazing blogettes) and spend a few days trendhunting at their mall, I was totally game. Our mission? Visit Oshawa Centre, check out all the stores, and take pics of our top fall fashion finds to be posted on the new Oshawa Centre Style Approved Pinterest Board

I live in a small town where fashion selection is pretty much nil. In a large haystack (literally in my case), I can always find that needle, especially if said needle has high heels or a sparkly finish. The minute I walked into Oshawa Centre and saw the huge selection of stores, I knew I had this assignment in the bag - I checked out H&M, Pandora, Gap, Hudson's Bay, Danier, Roots, Chapters, Smart Set, ALDO and Town Shoes and snapped away. 30 pics (and several shopping bags) later, my day was complete.  I'm heading back to Oshawa Centre for round 2 this week and can't wait to add more finds to our compendium of fall must-haves. Best. Job. Ever.

Now here's the exciting part: Check out the Oshawa Centre Style Approved Pinterest Board (it's updated daily with our fall finds) and re-pin or 'like' your favourites. No pressure to 'like' mine but I'll love you if you do :) Then, simply head over to Facebook to enter the Oshawa Centre Style Approved Contest for your chance to win 1 of 3 $500 Shopping Sprees to score a new fall wardrobe. Can you imagine?!

Best of luck, beauties! Hope to see you soon at Oshawa Centre! xx

Fall 2013 Colour Report: PINK

Sigrid Agren by Paul Wethrell for T Style Magazine - photo via New York Times

While it takes a confident man to wear pink, it also takes guts for a modern woman to pull off the hue, too. I mean, let's face it, in a world where women wear the pants, bring home the bacon and rule the roost, pink is often seen as a sugary step backwards. One only has to look to Elle Woods and those Harvard haters to remember how judgy people can get about a little blonde dye and a bubblegum pink Chanel handbag...

Buy Now: Jack Purcell Converse x Hudson's Bay

Whether you're an undergrad, have little ones of your own, or haven't set foot near a school in years, every girl deserves a little back-to-school shopping. Number one on my list this fall? The just-released Converse Hudson's Bay Company Jack Purcell Sneaker Collection. Each of the 3 styles (a unisex Jack Purcell, hi-top Duck Boot and women’s Helen silhouette) embodies the iconic HBC wool point blanket stripes, complete with threaded stitching, antique brass eyelets and the Jack Purcell and Hudson's Bay logos. I saw these at the holiday preview in Toronto last month and all the editors were freaking over them. One foolish intern literally drooled right into the hi-top and was promptly hauled off by the HBC police. She hasn't been heard from since.

The Converse Hudson’s Bay Company Jack Purcell sneaker collection is now available exclusively at Hudson’s Bay Stores and online at thebay.com for $120-140. Must. Buy. That is all.
