Drop It Like It's Chaud

Aigle's Fall/Winter 2014 Collection. Photo via Aigle.

Not to hate on Hunter wellies - I mean, if anyone understands wet weather, it's the Brits. But after lusting after them for 4 years, I finally invested in a pair of Aigle rainboots, and they're the best I've ever owned. Here's why I'm so smitten: the rubber is super pliable which makes them  the comfiest wellies you'll ever wear, the cut is thoughtful which helps make your legs look slimmer than typical clunky rainboots, and the design details, like the brand's signature leather tassels, are impeccable. Plus they're handmade in France so they must be good. OMG, I am turning into my mother.

Anyway, I'm in love. And I can't wait for it to rain today. Sorry, but if you buy a pair, you'll totally understand. The boots come in tall but unless you plan on wearing them throughout the winter, I'd suggest the hassle-free shorties. Not cheap but remember: rainboots last forever.

Happy Friday, y'all!

LABEL WE LOVE: Ascot + Hart

via Ascot + Hart on Instagram

Since really committing to online shopping, my wardrobe has reaped the benefits. Never before in the history of humanity has it ever been possible for an Ontario girl to shop an L.A. boutique, a massive European chain and a Halifax D.I.Y'ers craft room in a single night. And believe me, I've done just that.

My latest find, thanks to my ever-on-the-cusp sis, is Dallas-based boutique Ascot + Hart. Consider it your one-stop shop for perfectly worn-in denim, cool girl tees, flowy boho blouses and dresses and even Elle Fanning/Gwen Stefani's fav sunnies.

Prices are super reasonable so you won't even mind paying the $20 shipping fee, especially if you go in with friends on the order. Far cheaper than a flight to Dallas, yes?

It's all very, very tempting. Don't say I didn't warn you..

MOM LOVE: A Gift Guide

Model mom, Natalia Vodianova, in a sweet editorial for Vogue. Photo: Vogue.

Originally posted in The CLOSET

When I had my first baby, it took me a some time before I felt like a mom. I mean, I definitely felt like a mother when instead of being at a club at 1 am, I paced the floors with an inconsolable newborn. And I certainly felt the full depths of motherhood when on a grocery run for diapers, I realize I already had one stuck to my leg. While those first months of momdom are as unselfish as they come, I still just wasn't on board with the whole 'all you need is love' mentality, gift-wise. Don't get me wrong; there is nothing more amazing than the love of your children, from the smiles and giggles to those rare quiet moments when your beautiful baby is sleeping. But at first, I didn't understand how my mom could have been so genuinely thrilled when we'd give her scraps of scribbled-on paper for her birthday. Now my kids are 3 and 5 and I have to admit, nothing gets me more excited than when my kids come home from school with a homemade card that they've thought up just for me. The tears flow, I get all snivelly (just like I thought I never would) and I cannot possibly imagine a more perfect gift.

Except for those times when you've had months of sub-par sleep, zero breaks from the toddler tyrants who take, take, take ALL. THE. TIME. and then, despite all that glorious love you feel for your little ones, then you want stuff. Like, pretty, impractical, no-kids-allowed stuff that make you feel more like a woman than a mom. Ahem. Just me?
