I loved most of the fashions at the Oscars...but this one...not so sure. It looks a lot like that chair (so funny that NONE of her zillions of personal assistants figured that out) but also a bit like an apron on the front of her dress.
Believe it or not, this was the dress of the night for me.
Yes, it did look slightly like a beautifully detailed toilet seat (or Louis Chair), but it was bold and memorable. And Cate Blanchett carried it beautifully.
Nothing wrong with a little man-repelling every now and then.
I agree that Cate Blanchett is flawless and I don't think I've ever seen her make a fashion misstep. Like it or not, she is amaaazing and if anyone can pull off dining chair chic, it's her. xo

Her dress was certainly unlike any other that evening, but she is so soignée, that she carried it off elegantly.
