JET SET: 70 Perfect Packing Essentials

As the Sochi Olympics keep telling us, #WEAREWINTER. But by February, even the most die-hard Canadians among us are ready for some warmth. I mean, there's only so much white stuff one country can handle. And so it goes that every year around now, our thoughts start to drift southward. Daydreams of sun, surf and sand make the long, cold days more bearable. In our minds, breezy blouses, floaty dresses and beautiful bathing suits replace our massive parkas and clunky boots. Instead of an ergonomic shovel, we hold a margarita (or dos, por favor) in our outstretched hand. And even if we don't have a flight booked, we know that the warmer days of spring are just around the snowbank.

With Reading Week and March Break quickly approaching, I've put together a dream packing list for your next vacation. And, if you just so happen to have an extra ticket, I know of a certain fashion blogger who would really (REALLY) like to come with. Think about it. I'll even pack your suitcase.

Check out these 70 Perfect Vacation Essentials to help make packing more your next vacay a breeze...

SPRING TRENDS: How to Pull Off Purple

The Burberry Prorsum Spring '14 Runway. Photo via: The ZOE Report

Originally posted in The Fashion Scoop

As we talked about last week, purple is just one of those colours; you either really like it or you really don't. As little girls, we flock to the hue because there's only so much pink we can wear. And, of course, there's the whole royalty thing. But while purple hasn't been on trend for quite some time, there's a shake-up happening in the fashion world right now. Give credit to the Duchess and the modern purple dresses she regularly rocks on the red carpet, or blame it on Burberry, (I blame all my problems on Burberry), but shades of purple are currently having a major moment. And with Pantone's recent declaration that 'Radiant Orchid' is the 'It' colour of 2014, looks like purple is here to stay.

Read on for the chic colour combos that will help you pull off purple with aplomb (or should I say a-plum? hee hee)...

L.O.V.E.

Perfect day to wear my fav heart print pants. RealLifeRunway on Instagram.

It's FRIDAY!!! A very short and sweet post today because I finally just finished my deadlines and am late to pick up my kids (and their cupcakes, which I plan on immediately testing). A huge thank you for all the love you've given me and this blog over the past several Valentine's Days. Because of you, I get to do what I love every single day - a big deal and something I try to never take for granted. Love, love, love you all.

Happy Valentine's  - hope it's extra sweet!

COLOUR REPORT: Radiant Orchid

Pantone's official 2014 Colour of the Year: Radiant Orchid.

Originally posted in The CLOSET

When Pantone announced 2014's Colour of the Year, Radiant Orchid, along with other top colours like the softer Violet Tulip and Mauve Mist, I'll admit I was disappointed. Between Barney and Hank's klepto wife on Breaking Bad, purple has always just felt flaky to me. But the thing with the Colour of the Year is that someone always finds a way to make it look really great. And the more I've scoped it out, the more really beautiful looks I've found. While I doubt that purple will ever be my fav colour (and I'm certain that I will never condone Barney), I've discovered some gorgeous combos that will bring purple to brilliant new heights in your spring ensembles. So step aside Emerald Green, and welcome to the club Radiant Orchid. I think we're going to get along just fine...
