Making a DIFF

via @diffeyewear

Some people collect shoes (I do), some collect coats (I do that, too), but then others collect glasses (to confirm: yep, still me). I have a few "collection" "issues" but I'm working on it.

You see, here's the thing: curating fashion is a valid pursuit, especially when it has a purpose. I could go on and on about why stockpiling stamps or Pokemon cards or multiple husbands is a waste of time and resources, but accessories? Let me break it down for you. Shoes keep your feet protected and stop you from embarassing ejections from public spaces. Coats shield you from the elements, of course, while allowing you to wear pajamas to school drop-off and cover up coffee spills. And glasses? Well, they shade you from the sun, hide lack of sleep, and make you look cooler at all times of the day (just ask Corey Hart). While most people are obsessed with sunglasses, my particular fetish is for the non-shaded, non-prescription variety of glasses. I have my creative glasses (pink, tortoise, clear), my take-me-seriously spreadsheet glasses (no-nonsense black and heavy rims fit the bill) and then I have my 'my outfit is basic today' glasses that instantly elevate any 'fit.

I scored my first pair of DIFF glasses at Winners last year and while I fell in love with the style and comfort of these shades, it was their company mission that made me a repeat offender. Every pair of DIFF glasses sold helps to provide the gift of sight to someone in need through eye exams, glasses, medicine, and surgery. To date, DIFF Eyewear has donated over 1.5 MILLION pairs of glasses worldwide. So yup, kinda like Toms but in the eyewear space.

With all of the time I spend on my laptop writing, I've recently become a huge fan of DIFF's Blue Light Blocking collection. Not only do these glasses look dope, they minimize eye strain, prevent dry eyes and blurry vision, and reduce headaches that come from too much screen time.

I'm a fan and I think you will be, too. Ch-ch-check 'em out below. Epic website problems seem to be fixed for now so will be sharing more scores on the regular, kk?

Happy Friday, beauties!

SHOE LOVE: Converse Chuck Taylor x Missoni

If you read this blog regularly, you'll know that I'm more than a little sneaker obsessed. Given that I've worked out 2.5 times this calendar year, this might seem like an impractical choice. But here I go again, sucked in by perhaps the most tempting sneaker collab to date - and I would indeed date these shoes if I could.

The Fall '14 Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Missoni collection features Missoni’s designs on Converse’s iconic All Star silhouettes, allowing us to rock the brand's signature zig zag designs on our wannabe Italian piedi. You might recall that Missoni collaborated with Target awhile back and though I hightailed it to the closest border to pick up Missoni onesies for my newborn, I left completely empty-handed for myself. I will not make this mistake twice.

The collection will be available in Canada this coming Monday Sept 15th at Town Shoes, Little Burgundy, Gravity Pope, Browns Shoes, Hudson Bay and Livestock.

So, are you feeling this collection, too? I'd normally do the b&w but for some reason, I am just loving those purple hi-tops. Like I need purple hi-tops...

happy fri!

Banana Republic x Roland Mouret Lands Today!

You're on this, yes? You've already justified one of the Roland Mouret for Banana Republic dresses in your head, right? I know I have, and just put it into practice as I clicked 'buy' on an insanely sexy man-killer of a dress (the Galaxy-esque lace-sleeve). The just-released limited-edition collection of body-con dresses are like a parade of femme-fatales: flirty, sexy, yet completely soignée, and guaranteed to make jaws drop.

The brilliance in the Roland Mouret for Banana Republic Collection is its BR Sloan fabric - a unique blend of magic, bi-stretch fabric, providing the ultimate in figure-flattery. Mouret, famous for his exceptional skills in draping, structure and style, naturally gravitated toward this signature material, which he hand-draped, cut and pinned on the body to create this iconic capsule.

The nearly 30-piece collection has landed at select Banana Republic stores today and online now at bananarepublic.ca. Head there now to finally score yourself a bonafide LBD. Make like a French woman and follow your heart, not your head. Spendy? Oui. Worth it? Oh, absolument.

Kate Moss x Topshop is Finally Here

Photos courtesy Topshop

The long-awaited Kate Moss x Topshop collection has finally arrived and I want everything. Like the supermodel herself, the collection is edgy, eclectic and incomparably cool. From the rocker (see the floral metallic blouse, star camis and a fringed black dress), to the boho babe (embroidered smock dresses and pyjama trousers) to the innocent ingénue, (bright chiffon dresses), the line covers Moss's many sides. And for someone like me who dresses to suit my daily mood, the collection feels deeply (albeit most superficially) satisfying. Pick up the collection now online and at select Hudson's Bay stores across Canada.

Kate made an appearance at Topshop’s Oxford Circus store this week before hosting a star-studded dinner to celebrate the launch, attended by Cara Delevigne, Sienna Miller, Suki Waterhouse and Naomi Campbell.  See the photos – and what everyone wore – below:

Sneak Peek: Isabel Marant Pour H&M

Photos courtesy H&M

As it turns out, I've turned out exactly like my mother;  if it's made in France, it must be good. And particularly, if it comes from Paris, it must be even better. I can't help myself - I come by it honestly - I'm a die-hard Parisienne at heart. There could be worse things, right?

After seeing part 1 of the Isabel Marant x H&M Lookbook ahead of the Nov 14th release in stores, I want everything.  I mean, not only will this new collection be affordable but it has stayed so true to Marant's boy-meets-girl-meets-rockstar aesthetic that you could easily see any of these pieces on her Paris runway.

It doesn't hurt that Marant selected Andreea Diaconu, Alek Wek, Milla Jovovich, Iselin Steiro, Malgosia Bela and Lou Doillon as model/muses. How super gorge are these girls? The moto skinnies, menswear-inspired coats, fringed boots and chunky fall knits are designed to live in, to promenade in, to blow your budget on. And I will do it SO gladly. Et tu? xx
