Designers never tire of the non-colour colour and reinvent it season after season. Once the weather warms up, I'm quite happy to go pantless. Whether in a board meeting or at lunch with my mother-in-law, I find that pants are a bit of a bother. I mean, all the buttons and zips and worrying about how I look when I leave - it's all so much stress with little sartorial pay-off. And I've never met a boss, friend or boyfriend who doesn't load on the compliments when I leave my pants at home.

I say let's all go pant-free, ladies. I don't care whether you're a girly-girl or not. It doesn't matter if you're a risk-taker or a play-it-safe kind of girl. And it certainly doesn't matter what body type you've been blessed with. A dress, my friends, is always the answer. And now that the long range forecast is calling for a steady stream of double-digits (FI.NA.LLY.) you really need little else. I'm one of those people who make the jump from winter straight to summer. I go from massive clunky boots to sockless feet because for some reason, I find the in-between stuff tough to swallow. I mean, is it warm or isn't it? Seriously, let's commit, shall we? But then, there I am in the middle of an April rainstorm, with freezing wet feet, a mass of frizzy hair, and a see-through white tee, cursing myself for not being better prepared and wishing I had a cute umbrella to cover me up as I drag my stubborn feet home...

When Lord & Taylor and Hudson's Bay joined forces a few years ago, we knew that good things were bound to come from the merger. After all, both department stores are the oldest in their respective countries yet have somehow managed to stay cool and current through the years, kind of like Prince. Or Madonna. Or anyone else epic enough to go by one name. I digress. 

The latest offspring of these hip department store parents? The exclusive new private brand, 424 Fifth, named after the address of Lord & Taylor's iconic Manhattan flagship. Just launched at Hudson's Bay and Lord & Taylor stores across Canada and the U.S, the already-buzzed-about line, comprised of women's apparel and accessories, is already being touted by editors and bloggers as a must for fashion savvy women.
