Birds of a Feather

Metal & Leather Feather Pendant Necklace, $140, Coach

In case you missed this from yesterday's post, check out this stunner from Coach. SO crazy cool, right? I cannot figure out the pricing strategy but the exact same necklace is available with a leather chain for $100 more. Seriously? I plan on hitting up a craft store, buying black leather string or possibly even a black shoelace, and DIY-ing my own. $100? As my mother would say, 'Who's going to give you $100?' Oh, nuh-uh uh. You can't pull the wool over our eyes/the necklace over our heads that easily, Coach. Savvy shoppers, unite!

happy fri

THE NEW | 15 Trends to Try in 2015

Kendall Jenner in Vogue

My favourite thing to do in the middle of a deep freeze is avoid it. No, really, I stay as far away as possible from any natural air, sprint to the closest heated car or building whenever I have to be outside, and generally make any excuse I can to not have to go out at all. My dog and I go on winter runs, not walks, so he and I get exercise but limit the potential for frostbite. And when skiing, you can literally only see the tip of my nose. I look ridiculous but my Hot Hands-warmed thumbs are giving the thumbs up inside my oven mitt-sized mittens.

While avoiding the cold, I spend my time dreaming. Dreaming of warm places, dreaming that a plane ticket will find its way into my cold hands, and dreaming of spring fashion. The spring runways were loaded with temptations that I can't wait to wear. And since 2015 is officially here, I see no reason why we can't start wearing some of spring's pretty pieces right now.

These 15 finds will help bring you right up to speed for 2015...

SUNSHINE STATE | Take a Sneak Peek at the Lilly Pulitzer for Target Collection

Photos via Target

Lilly Pulitzer prints have always been a fav in my family. But while you probably recognize her prints, you might not know the history of the brand. As it turns out, Lilly Pulitzer's foray into fashion was almost accidental. The Palm Beach socialite's husband, Peter Pulitzer, owned several citrus groves, so Lilly turned the oranges into juice which she sold at a juice stand off posh Worth Ave. Not content to look anything but fabulous, Lilly created printed shift dresses to wear while working at the stand, since the pretty prints hid juice stains beautifully. The dresses quickly caught the attention of passersby, including one Jackie Kennedy, she started selling her dresses at the stand, and American resort wear was born. While Lilly passed away in 2013, her legacy continues with her signature beach-perfect prints.

While some hilariously mad-as-hell Lilly snobs took to Twitter to express their outrage yesterday, the rest of us can rejoice. Lilly Pullitzer is coming to us non-Palm-Beachers at Target this spring! The limited-edition 250-piece collection features 15 exclusive prints (read: works of art) and includes apparel, accessories and shoes for women and girls, plus home accents, outdoor entertaining accessories, beach gear, beauty and travel accessories.

The late Lilly Pulitzer is famous for having said, “style isn't just about what you wear, it's about how you live.” We're prepared to fully embrace this sentiment when the collection hits stores April 19th. And if the sneak peek pics below are any indication, it looks like we'll be living the good life (and throwing a lot more parties) this spring. Those dresses! The bikinis! The starfish sandals! The patio-perf placemats and cocktail glasses! Can you even?! Follow this blog and @TargetCanada | #LillyForTarget on Twitter are all Lilly-related updates. Eek!

STYLE | 15 Resolutions to Keep in 2015

via Bionda Castana

Originally posted in The CLOSET

There's nothing like a brand new year to make us rethink the way we do everything. From getting fit to starting fresh with our family, the hope of change can motivate us to do some amazing things. Luckily, January doesn't have to mean a complete overhaul of the way you run your life. I personally like to keep my resolutions stylish, streamlined and sometimes sparkly. I like getting rid of excess baggage, both metaphorically and physically. Like, I seriously have so many bags to give away to Goodwill. And while a new necklace or pair of shoes isn't going to turn me into the best possible me, I know they'll make me stand taller and slightly shift my point of view.

Let's all resolve to be a little more stylish this year, shall we? It might be a small thing but you'll be amazed by how 15 pieces will change your 2015 (or at least your 2015 closet) for the better. As for budget, let's just ignore that resolution for the moment. Oh, come on, it's January - it's the best time for dreaming big, don't you think?

WELCOME TO NEW YORK: My Pics from the WHBM Spring '15 Press Preview

My ready-for-takeoff #OOTD, incl. NY-ready choc. brown nails and leather joggers.

When White House Black Market, the kind-of-a-big-deal American retailer, offers to fly you to NYC for their Spring '15 preview, the answer is obvious. And so I told them 'no'. I mean, I had already promised my daughter that I'd go along on her field trip to the symphony that day and had committed to a few events in Toronto that night, and I always keep my promises. I told my husband, expecting him to give me a big super-parent high five, but all he gave me was an 'Are you Craaazy??' face and shook his head. My daughter was equally perplexed, 'You get to fly to New York City?? That's so cool! Can you just bring me back something from American Girl?' So, I backpedalled and said yes, only to find out that not only was WHBM going to fly me to NY, but they'd also arranged car service and a hotel room in the Fashion District. Um, sweet?

Our small but lucky group of Canadian bloggesses met at YYZ, airport style at the ready and coffees in hand. WHBM knows how to pick 'em: Gracie Carroll, Robin Edwards, Susan Liberatore, Iva Grbesic and (thank goodness I said yes) me. Doug Ford was directly in front of us at customs. Ominous. But nothing could rattle us now. We were en route to New York. This was a good day. We sat down at our gate and, perhaps to shift the balance of our Ford Nation run-in, in walks Robert Pattinson! He was underworldly pale, had a toothpick stuck between his teeth, and looked like he hadn't showered in a month. Swoon... We had maybe 25 people on our little plane and 1 of them was R-Patz. These were good odds. Our jazz hands, loud mentions of our blogs and even Susan's attempts at a pic for her teenage daughter were met with, well, nothing. Over it.

We landed at La Guardia and drove into the heart of NY to stroll and shop. We made our way to the much-buzzed-about Café Cluny, a gem of a place in the West Village where the city's most fashionable flock and where the wait staff all wear Saint James. Waris Ahluwalia sat beside us and Derek Jeter sat behind. You have to go.

At night, we headed to the main event: the White House Black Market Spring '15 Preview at the so-hip-it-hurts Jack Studios. Picture pink, black and white-clad mannequins and massive green topiaries spelling out WHBM, set against the backdrop of an all-white space inside and the NYC skyline beyond. Breathtaking. We met the entire WHBM crew, mingled with other US editors and caught up with a few other Canadians including Afiya Francisco, Carolyne Brown of Loulou Magazine and Flare's Tyler Franch. My picks? The athletic separates which I'll sport both in and out of the gym, the ultra-feminine spring frocks in florals and pastel solids, and the flattering oversized sunglasses which I will definitely be picking up when they hit stores. Count me a super fan, as biased as I might currently be.

The next day was spent shopping (and shopping, and more shopping) but given our crazy celeb karma on this trip, I wasn't totally surprised when Iva whispered, 'Isn't that Olivia Palermo??' And there she was most unmistakably, my fav street style fashion icon, walking directly ahead of us on 5th Ave. I sidled up beside her and in my most humble voice said, 'Olivia, we're fashion bloggers from Canada. Would it be possible for us to take our pic with you?' OP looked genuinely flattered (not a hint of Robert Pattinson's 'tude at all). Her sweet mom grabbed my phone, snapped a few pics and we headed back to La Guardia, exhausted, overwhelmed and completely happy.

See what can happen when you say 'yes'? Thanks so much White House Black Market for an incredible time. Can't wait to shop your collection when our Canadian snow thaws.
