Let's Dance

No matter how routiney or predictable we become, there's something about the end of the year that inspires us to believe; We believe we can get out of that massive rut, that we can tranform into that person we've always wanted to become, that we can change for the better. After a week-long binge-fest, I've already made some mental resolutions that I hope to keep, though I know that every year, sometime around January 13th, I'll likely slip back into at least a few old habits.

Regardless, a girl can always dream - and in my laid-back holiday state, as I lie here happily ensonced on my couch, watching piles of movies with my kids and trying to muster up the effort to hit the toboggan hill, I've already dreamt up some stellar New Year's Eve outfits. I figure by the time the 31st rolls around, I'll be very ready to toss aside my well-worn pajama pants and get back into my heels to kick in the brand new year. Here's to wishing and hoping and for all of us, a truly wonderful 2013.

Buy a Tee, Build a School

This time of year, all of the excess helps to remind us of just how lucky we are and how very important it is to share the love.  The Build a School in Africa Tee is all about giving back to those not quite so fortunate. Roots and the Michael "Pinball" Clemons Foundation have joined the Academy of Lions' "The Shirt Project" to help provide education and a sustainable existence. All net proceeds from the sale of this shirt will support Pinball's goal of building schools for marginalized children in Africa through Free The Children's Adopt a Village Program. For every 500 tees sold, 1 school will be built, giving kids a place to learn, grow and thrive.

Through this limited-edition tee, enough money has been raised to build 16 schools (!) and counting, with 7 already being built and another 9 on the way.  Such a cool tee. Such an incredible concept.  And it makes a perfect last-minute philanthropic gift, too, btw...

Get your 'Build a School in Africa Tee' ($29.95) at Roots.

And with that, I bid you adieu for the holidays! I'm off to eat, drink and be ridiculously merry.  You with me? A huge thanks to everyone who's made this year so incredible.  Because of you, I'm able to do what I love for a living and I am so incredibly grateful for your constant support.  Aww...now I'm getting all emotional..

Merry, Merry Christmas lovelies.  See you in 2013!

A Good Hair Day Giveaway

If you could throw me in a category when it comes to hair, I'd be on the low-low-maintenance end of things.   I wash it every other day before bed and go to sleep with my hair wet.  When I wake up I brush it (sometimes) or throw it into a ponytail.  Done.  The hair dryer comes out about once a month when I have to go to a big fashion event, and when I go on TV, I leave it to the professionals to make it look pretty.

Which is precisely why I place a lot of importance on the products I use - particularly shampoo and conditioner since I use little else.  When Matrix sent me these 3 new products, I was thrilled.  Oil is the new black, or something like that, and I've heard those with luscious locks swear by the much-buzzed-about Moringa Oil to give their hair unparalleled shine.  I've been using the shampoo and conditioner for a few weeks now and am loving the results.  After washing, I rub some of the Replenishing Treatment into my ends and wake up the next morning frizz-free. And on the odd occasion that I flat-iron or blow dry my hair, I'll use it to protect from the heat.  Genius!

As promised on my facebook page, I'll be doing a few sweet giveaways this week and this is #1! Simply leave a comment below telling me your best tip for a good hair day for your chance to win this 3-pack containing MATRIX Biolage ExquisiteOil Micro-Oil Shampoo ($16.95/500mL), MATRIX Biolage ExquisiteOil Oil Crème Conditioner ($18.50/300mL) and MATRIX Biolage ExquisiteOil Replenishing Treatment ($21.95/92mL).

(PS - For extra chances to win, 'like' the MATRIX Canada Facebook page and follow @MATRIXCanada on Twitter.)

Good luck, beauties!  Contest closes this Thursday (Dec 20) at midnight.  Will announce the winner Friday am!
